Russian Spam; Microsoft handing out a $250,000 reward!

Heard of a virus called Rustock?  Not many have. What is it? Rustock is a virus/trojan horse that is responsible for 30 million (That’s right… I said MILLION) spam e-mails daily. Microsoft is so sick of this, they have decided to offer a $250,000 reward for information on this virus, where it came from, and who created it. Per Microsoft’s blog:

Today, we take our pursuit a step further. After publishing notices in two Russian newspapers last month to notify the Rustock operators of the civil lawsuit, we decided to augment our civil discovery efforts to identify those responsible for controlling the notorious Rustock botnet by issuing a monetary reward in the amount of $250,000 for new information that results in the identification, arrest and criminal conviction of such individual(s).

You could earn yourself some cash if you know something!!! Microsoft claims that they have since taken down the main botnet website, to cut the number of infected pc’s in half.. But they claim there is still hundreds of thousands of PC’s still infected spamming the living daylights out of us.
