Weekly Waypoint

This recap is for those of us who don’t have the New 3DS XL and Majora’s Mask, because if you did have those, what are you doing reading this?!

So let’s get right to it!

3dsThe New Nintendo 3DS XL officially released today! Though, as The Verge reports, it might be hard to find a charger as the New 3DS does not come with one in the box, and all the major game retailers are out of stock. Chris Ziegler writes, “this means that if you don’t already have a 3DS charger … you will be able to use your new handheld for an hour or two… and then it will go dark, and you will be staring at a brick. An infinite void, a place where neither Mario nor Link can be found. Playtime is over. Dreams are crushed.” And ain’t nobody got time for that. However, if you’re concerned, a charger directly from Nintendo only costs $9.95, but you’ll have 910l8MdseRllPj0etscykpn7EZhnAGTnto have it shipped. Additionally, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D has been highly reviewed. Players should expect the same wacky, time-traveling adventure they experienced oh-so-many (15 to be exact!) years ago, but more refined. And pretty!

Are you like me and plenty of others who used Dragon Age 2‘s Black Emporium DLC to change your Hawke’s face all the time? Do you wish Inquisition offered the same, creepy, underground shop? Well, you’re in luck! Today, BioWare announced their Patch 5 beta program for Inquisition: “We want to open up our upcoming Patch 5 to a select group of PC players,”  the announcement says, “This not only allows us to more quickly identify Blk_Emporiumand respond to future issues, but gives our developers a great, new way to work directly with our players.” Patch 5 looks like it will add Inquisition’s own Black Emporium DLC, some UI updates, new key-binding options, and the ability to tint armor. Sign-ups will go through the Keep, and should be open in “the near future.”

One of Gamestop’s old training videos has been making the rounds this past week. In this actual, real life, honest-to-god training video, GameStop tells their employees how to identify and interact with one of the most wild creatures on the planet: women. The gaming industry doesn’t exactly have a good record with how it treats women, but luckily this video shows that we have made some progress in the last decade or so.

Just Cause 3 got its first trailer today! The game is set to release Holiday 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
